Koviao Katjerungu Advocates Youth Empowerment Through Self-Sufficiency | Miss Namibia

Miss Namibia semi-finalist Koviao Katjerungu is using her platform to champion a powerful message, youth empowerment through self-sufficiency.

At the core of her advocacy is a mission to inspire young Namibians to shift their mindset from dependency to independence by equipping themselves with the skills needed to create their own opportunities.

“Being able to use my voice to influence young people to shift their minds from a point of dependency to a point of self-sufficiency is important,” she shared.

Koviao believes that empowerment begins with access to knowledge and the willingness to share it. She emphasizes the importance of passing down both intellectual and emotional tools, enabling young people to not only grow but also redefine the narratives they want for their lives.

For her, true empowerment is not about waiting for opportunities to come, it’s about building them.

“I believe that empowerment stems from when a young person is able to use the skills that they’ve gained to create an opportunity rather than relying or waiting for one,” she explained.

Her advocacy highlights a critical conversation in Namibia’s youth development space, where many young people face limited opportunities and resources. By encouraging self-sufficiency, Koviao is promoting a mindset of ownership, creativity, and resilience.

Through her voice and platform, Koviao Katjerungu is inspiring a new generation to take control of their future and actively shape their own paths.

    Skylar Snydewel Launches ‘Beyond Silence’

Miss Teen Namibia semi-finalist Skylar Snydewel is using her voice to stand up for those who feel unheard, unseen, and silenced.

Through her advocacy initiative, “Beyond Silence,” Skylar is focused on creating awareness around the realities many individuals face, whether it’s violence, harassment, or bullying that often goes unreported.

“Beyond Silence is dedicated to speaking up for those who feel unheard and unseen,” she shared.

Her message highlights a critical issue in Namibia: many people suffer in silence due to fear, intimidation, or the consequences of speaking out.

According to Skylar, one in three women in Namibia experience violence, while many cases remain unreported. In workplaces, nearly half of harassment incidents go unspoken, and in schools, countless young people face bullying without ever speaking up.

But for Skylar, these are more than just statistics.

“These are voices waiting to be heard,” she emphasized.

Through her advocacy, she aims to break that silence by creating safe spaces where individuals feel empowered, supported, and reminded that their voices matter.

Miss Namibia 2026 Semi-Finalist Constancia Kamburona Advocates for Emotional Intelligence in Children

Miss Namibia 2026 semi-finalist Constancia Kamburona is using her platform to champion a powerful and often overlooked cause; emotional intelligence in children.

During a recent discussion on her advocacy, Constancia highlighted the importance of emotional awareness, describing it as a key foundation that shapes how individuals experience and navigate life.

“I believe emotional intelligence is the foundation of how we experience life,” she shared. “If you’re emotionally aware, you make more informed decisions.”

Her advocacy focuses on early childhood development, specifically targeting children between the ages of 0 to 5, a critical stage where nearly 90% of brain development takes place.

By introducing emotional education at this stage, Constancia aims to equip children with the tools they need to better understand, express, and manage their emotions from a young age.

However, her vision does not stop there.

Recognising that many emotional challenges already exist among older youth, she is also extending her efforts to include teenagers. As part of this initiative, Constancia and her team are currently developing a workbook designed to help children, parents, and teachers navigate emotions effectively.

Through her advocacy, Constancia Kamburona is not only preparing for the Miss Namibia stage, she is building a meaningful initiative that could shape healthier, more emotionally aware communities across Namibia.

  • Martin Pombili Launches Project P2P Namibia to Fight Gender-Based Violence

Martin Pombili Launches Project P2P Namibia to Fight Gender-Based Violence

Namibian entrepreneur and social advocate Martin Pombili is leading the fight against gender-based violence in Namibia through his newly launched campaign, Project P2P Namibia.

Project P2P is a gender-based violence awareness and prevention initiative focused on transforming mindsets, educating communities, and mobilising men and women to become responsible protectors of vulnerable individuals across the country.

With thousands of gender-based violence cases reported in Namibia each year, Martin says the campaign aims to address not only the reported incidents but also the many cases that remain unspoken and unreported.

    What Is Project P2P Namibia?

According to founder Martin Pombili, Project P2P was created to promote community accountability and education in the fight against GBV in Namibia.

The campaign plans to focus on communities most affected by GBV while implementing practical support systems and educational outreach.

    Project P2P’s Goals Include:

    • Improving safe houses and support infrastructure for GBV survivors
    • Providing educational and entertainment programs for children
    • Distributing educational materials promoting healthy social behaviour
    • Increasing community engagement in GBV prevention
    • Reaching high-risk areas based on Namibia’s GBV statistics

As part of the initiative, Martin is encouraging Namibian businesses and corporates to support Project P2P by partnering with the campaign and becoming visible allies in the fight against gender-based violence.

He believes corporate involvement is essential because GBV affects not only homes but also workplaces, mental health, and employee productivity.

“Corporates are not only businesses — they are national builders,” Martin said.

Project P2P plans to raise funds through branded campaign t-shirts and corporate partnerships to ensure the campaign’s sustainability and long-term impact.

Why Project P2P Matters for Namibia

Gender-based violence remains one of the country’s most urgent social issues, and initiatives like Project P2P represent a proactive step toward long-term prevention and education.

By launching Project P2P Namibia, Martin Pombili is positioning himself as one of the Namibians using leadership and innovation to create social change.

  • Kaveidi Ndume: Championing Disability, Inclusion, and Empowerment

At just a semi-finalist stage in Miss Teen Namibia, Kaveidi Ndume has already distinguished herself as a voice for change. Her advocacy focuses on disability, inclusion, and empowerment, a cause deeply personal to her and profoundly relevant to Namibia’s future.

When asked why she chose this path, Kaveidi’s answer was clear and heartfelt:

“It’s because I’ve noticed that there isn’t enough awareness for disabled people. They are mistreated in our community and I just want to create awareness for them so people can see them and recognize them as normal people with normal abilities even though they look slightly different from some people.”

Her vision goes beyond awareness. She speaks of creating jobs, expanding education, building more schools, and increasing grants for differently abled individuals. This is not just advocacy, it’s a blueprint for systemic change.

Kaveidi’s passion is rooted in her own experience:

“Disability is very important to me because I’m also neurodivergent and I know how it feels to be not seen, recognized, and looked down upon.”

Her words remind us that advocacy is most powerful when it comes from lived experience. She knows firsthand the challenges of invisibility, and she channels that into a mission to uplift others.

Kaveidi challenges stereotypes by highlighting the joy, intelligence, and resilience within the differently abled community:

“We are happy, we’re jolly people and the smartest people live amongst us, so don’t look down upon us.”

Her message is one of recognition and respect, urging society to see beyond differences and embrace the full humanity of every individual.

    Who is DJ Spuzza?

In Namibia’s vibrant music scene, one name has become synonymous with energy, innovation, and unapologetic creativity: DJ Spuzza, also known as Slauterhouze
. From humble beginnings mixing tracks in high school to commanding stages with his electrifying beats, Spuzza’s journey is a testament to resilience and the power of authenticity.

Spuzza’s story begins in Grade 11, when he started handing out homemade mixes to classmates. What began as a hobby quickly evolved into a passion. By 2013, he was performing at a local butchery that doubled as an undercover bar, a gritty, unconventional venue that shaped his raw, experimental style. It was here that the name Slauterhouze was born, a nod to both the venue and his house-driven sound.

Every artist has that one track that changes everything. For Spuzza, it was Soek Soek. Created in a spontaneous studio session filled with laughter, drinks, and freestyle energy, the song captured the spirit of Namibian youth culture. Its infectious rhythm and playful vibe spread like wildfire, earning him a nomination at the Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) 2020 a recognition he hadn’t even formally applied for.

Spuzza’s philosophy is simple: music has no rules. His sets blend futuristic house beats, amapiano grooves, and live drumming, creating a sensory experience that pulls crowds into his orbit. He thrives on unpredictability, pushing boundaries and refusing to conform to industry expectations.

Beyond his personal success, DJ Spuzza has become a symbol of Namibia’s growing electronic and house music movement. His rise has inspired other young DJs to experiment boldly, proving that local talent can resonate on a global scale.
